Located 25 km from the city centre of Accra are
the beach resorts of Bortianor, Kokrobite and Langma. This stretch of beach
front has the largest concentration of Beach Resorts in Ghana.
Turning off on the Accra Winneba road at the old Police Barrier, you are on your
way to a never to be forgotten experience at the ABOKOLT Communities. This is
a long stretch of clean white beaches dotted with Hotels, Guest Houses,
Restaurant, Beach Resorts and a host of smaller outfits offering ancillary
services.
Renowned for its medium rate and budget
accommodation, these beach resorts are very popular with tourists and Accra
residents. all weekends are busy here and things get even busier during
festivities and public holidays.
There is always a resort to fit your budget. There
are also life guards to protect swimmers. Despite the quiet and safe
environment, you must avoid leaving valuables in your cars, especially at the
public beaches where car break-ins are now common.
Spending a night on the beaches here is very
exciting. From the meals at the hotels and restaurants to grilled fish and
lobsters on the beach complemented with a wide assortment of cold drinks. The
nights are usually cool except for the harmattan season when it could get
chilly.
There is very good road network along the coast as
well as excellent telecommunication coverage. There are communication and
call centers dotted all around the area. Most of the
restaurants and hotels here offer African and Continental dishes as standard
menu. The months between August and April are the when the area experiences the
highest number tourists.
There is no limit to what you can do with time on
your hands. you could start the day with an early morning swim in the ocean,
pull in the fishing net with fishermen after
breakfast, laze around or read on
the beach in the afternoon and enjoy an evening of African drumming and dance or
live musical performance before retiring to bed with the soothing lapping of the
ocean waves at night. We feature some of the popular resorts although there are
a lot of smaller establishments whose facilities might not be as developed to
meet international standards.
